I recently finished reading "Twilight of the Gods" a Swedish SS man's account of the end of the war, from Kurland to the hellish struggle for Berlin. He served in the aufklarungs abteilung of Nordland. This unit employed the sdkfz 250, including the /1, /7, and /9. Inspired by the book, I have decided to do two 250s belonging to this unit, most likely in 1945. I managed to obtain Dragon's 250/1 and 250/9 after some searching. It is a shame that these kits are out of production in my opinion, and if you can find one, go for it!

Construction on the two kits has begun. Right now I'm just concerned with getting the basic parts common to both versions assembled. More detailed work will begin when I obtain the various Aber sets for the vehicles and possibly some Jaguar resin pieces.
Here's the progress on one halftrack.
The floor pieces are yet to be glued, just fitted in place for the photo.

OK, here's where it gets interesting. First off, Dragon forgot to include the transmission piece (red arrow) in the /1 kit. Anybody know where one could be obtained? Failing that, I plan to simply install the transmission from the /9 into the /1, as not much of the driver's compartment should be visible on that one. Now, onto the bench (white arrow) would this have been installed on the /9, as the instructions indicate that it was not. However, if left out the floor in that area has no pattern and two holes for mounting the bench that will visible.

Evan,
I have an unopened 250/1 "NEU" kit on my shelf. I checked if the transmission box is included and it is, it is part number C19. Maybe I have another kit? The DML Kit # is 6100.

Ambjoern,
from what I have heard it seems that the first few batches of the 250/1 were missing that part, and it was eventually corrected. I happened to solve my problem in a rather unexpected way. I got the 250/5 neu off of e-bay, and to my surprise it had an extra sprue with the parts I needed!
