DML Sd.Kfz.138/1 Grille

Hello,

After a long time not building any models, I have decided to start building again. As a subject I have chosen this one:


This is one of my all time favorits and the reason I will be building again.

Well work started with the drive sprockets & idler wheels.
You get 2 sets of each, so the question is witch are the ones to use?

Sprockets:



Idlers:



Anyone now witch one to use???

I would use the solid sprockets and the round holes in the idlers. I believe the sprockets with holes were for the prototypes.

Nice to see you building again, and working on a project that I will be interested in.
Looking at some references such as Ground Power No.097 the drive wheels with solid outer rim seems to be more predominant than the sprocket wheels with lightening holes. So in your photo the lower set.

The best option for the idlers would be the upper sets in your photo the ones with the circular lightening holes- not the tear drop shaped ones.

Nice start on this kit. I picked one of these up myself on a whim, but kind of lost interest. One of the extended hull towing eyes was warped on my kit, did you have this problem?

Good luck, it looks pretty complex. Terry's review on PMMS maybe helpful as well.
