Model kasten track description

Ok I always have been fruil track guy or just used the vinal tracks. My question is how do you essemble model kasten tracks? Are they easier then fruil track sets?

I was searching on greatmodels.com and they said workable tracks. that means these can actaully move? Can anyone just describe these tracks. I do not know much about model kasten but has always been interested in them.

I'm just looking for a easier and simplier and less time consuming way to put on tracks. Why can't DML just make vinal tracks it would save modelers alot of time.

Personally I would stick with Friulmodel tracks I had bought a set of Sherman tracks from Model Kasten There are 8 parts per link in that Model Kasten set basically I just put them in storage and never used them

Also a friend who used the MK tracks on a Tamiya KV 1 had to sand off the the little mold dimples (I know that term isn't right) on the insides of the tracks

What for tracks are you looking to replace?

I'm working on the DML 250/1 3 in 1 kit I built the 250/9 late version. So I guess I'm looking for late pattern 250 tracks.

I'm sure you meant the 251 3 in 1 kit? Doesn't this kit include the 251 late tracks? These are the ones without the holes in them.

Modelkasten workable tracks are nice and well detailed, but I think the Fruil tracks are nice as well. Usually with the Modelkasten tracks you have to insert a pin into the edge of the tracks as you assemble them, this makes them "workable" as far as being able to move freely on the pivot points. Some of these tracks are very delicate so you have to be careful assembling them...don't know if theey're

The detail is far superior to any kit tracks so I think people prefer them for this reason, and they produce the proper "sag" when assembled.

If you want ease of assembly, go for the kit tracks. Interesting question about DML just making vinyl tracks...their new Tiger Ferdinand kit has vinyl tracks.

I have used the modelkasten 251 tracks and they are great. I have also used the Fruieli tracks and personnally did not like them. If it is between these two I would use the Modelkastern as I feel they are better.

serpico, yes the 3 in 1 kit does have late type tracks... the Dragon easy tracks but. For me I am on the road alot and I would like to find easy and quick ways to build the tracks. I hate gluing and putting DML single link tracks.

Seriously, if you hate DML tracks then MK ones are not the way to go for you. Even more tedious.

With all the AFV Club 251 kits out there and the tendency of people to use AM tracks you might find someone who has an extra set of the vinyl tracks. Give it a try on one of the buy/sell DG's you see on Missing Lynx, Armorama, Track-link, etc.

On the road a lot? You drive tractor-trailer? I do and am able to model on the road

nope, I'm a computer Technician. I work for a large computer company. And I fly around the world to fix large networks and or other computer conponets and things. I fly between warsaw Poland and new York.
