I guess Tamiya has announced its latest 1/35th release

If the price is right I will get one. Alot of people upset about this news over on the Missing-Lynx and Track-link sites.

I hope Tamiya will make something new in 1/35... the last thing I liked is the Stug. III early version...

I don't know why people get upset about this news?!? It is quite an unusual subject, and a refreshing change from yet another stug, tiger, sherman or sdkfzwhatever....

I think people have been expecting something bigger from Tamiya as a sign they haven't deserted the 35th market, so a lot of people are disappointed. The Shizuoka Hobby Show is only a month away, so we may be in for a bigger surprise.

I'm with Jan in this, it is refreshing to see something that is not "german made".

Besides, I think Tamiya is capitalizing their previous hit, the Char B1 Bis; French tank, French carrier…. See the pattern?

BTW, I think that Tamiya is deserting the 1/35 scale due to the competition it's getting from DML and Tristar; for the price that Tamiya charges you for a model you can buy a DML or Tristar model bursting with details and extra goodies. That’s (IMHO) what made them switch to 1/48 scale; there is no competition in that scale.

I agree with driver. Tamiya kits, while very good, just don't cut it in todays market. In 1/48, that's a different story..

Actually that's pretty much completely untrue, in Asia, Dragon is often $10-$15 MORE than tamiya so in the worlds largest market Tamiya wins out on prices. Tamiya only charges you $30 for a model, your importers and governments charge the rest

That may be so in Asia but not in the US. Here Tamiya models always cost more than DML or Tristar. As an example a Tiger I from Tamiya cost about $10 more in the US than its DML counter part. Even in Ebay there is a seller that resides in Hong Kong and sells Tamiya models at a higher price than Tristar or DML. Also remember that the importers and goverment also charges the other brands too.

Aye but the trick is, The Chinese government doesn't charge an export tax You should try posting a camera from Japan sometime.... Your Hong Kong seller on ebay is a scam artist pure and simple, he's buying kits retail for half what he's charging you, Tamiya should be pretty much the same price as Dragon. And lets face it the US is far from being the worlds most significant modelling market....

Hi guys,
Quite an interesting subject. Actually Roderick, the ebay seller is not a scam. I have bought several models from him in different occasions and I am yet to have any problems with him. You can actually get a Tristar model for $25.00 (USD) or less.

You can check it out here:
