Panther D Premium kit DML - I02
So - first, the tank I'm building - one of my areas of primary interest is the I/4 Panzer Regt in Italy. Recently the third identifiable shot of this vehicle was posted on Ebay. It is a bit of an oddity, as these shots are taken as the unit is in Italy in early (Feb) '44. This particular Panther appears to have 16 bolt wheels, and lacks Zimm - but has the later turret without the communications hatch in the left turret wall.
I/4 had 3 Befehls D at the issued at the HQ level, but this is the only tac number in pictures that I know of. Many of you will have seen the later Befehls A India Zero Two that replaced it in Spring or Summer of 44.
Fun stuff - the rear right/starboard stowage box looks to have been swiped from a later Zimm'd version - and the color variation on the side skirts has some pretty wide variance in griming/color.
My thanks to Andrew, Sheeds and Henrik for the starting help...
SBS photos to follow...

I'm more interested in the Elefant in the background...:<}} I have another shot of this Panther/Elefant I think in Panzer Colors, maybe just the Elefant though...
Numbers on the Panther remind me of the Kursk panthers...

Nice choice Paul,
that's the one I would do. I know there is another pic in existence, I just can't seem to find where I saw it.

Do ya reckon we might see some inprog stuff soon Paul?
As Laz says, great choice, and that third pic you're both refering to is the front on version I believe? Andrew has it, and from memory it's from Bruce Quarrie's excellent little book "Panzers in the balkans and Italy" or K. Munch's 653 history by JJF.

Yeah,
Sheeds, I've seen that one, John S. shared that with me. The one I keep going back to in my mind, was from the side, like the one from ebay, but not that one. It looked as if it were taken from the same series as the ones in the 653rd book. I should have bought that book.
