Tristar Panzer 38(t) E/F

Since all the kids are doing it these days...my latest project:

First Tristar kit ever for me - seems really nice. Some very minor flash and molding issues, nothing major. Everyone is building this or the Ausf G, so I'll just hit the issues I've had.

References:

Haven't really thought about what I'm going to paint it as yet... more to come on that later. I did buy the Eduard PE set, mainly for the fenders. Other than that it will be out of the box I think!

Looking forward to your build. I bet that the Ed. fenders will really add a lot.

Building the hull

Building the hull - I didn't have any major gaps or ill fitting parts, as some others did. I put all the major hull parts together at once, so I had some time to fine tune the fit.

This was the worst problem - the engine cover didn't fit very well so I sanded it. Apparently I went overboard! Check out the gap at the front of the cover, compared to the other side in the second picture:

Watch the PE screens on the engine covers - they only fit on one way so the notch for the fender brace aligns with the notch in the hull ...ask me how I know! :-)

The two doors for the radio/gunner (?) spot didn't fit very well - some sanding needed.

Other than that, all was good. The rest of the fit seems good to me!

Next up, I attempt to solder PE fenders for the first time!

Your Ausf G build is what inspired me to start this one! Great model!

Thanks! I'm flattered.

Good progress btw. I had all of the problems you've got.

D I: Because a woman has the right to choose who she has sex with.
B: [stunned] WHAT...? You joke?
D I: It must be consentual. How 'bout that?
B: [turns to instructor, pauses] Ahahahahaha!
D I: That's good, huh?
B: [pause] Is not good for me

Nice progress indeed, makes me want to build another one and I haven't even finished the one I started.
