Very realistic looking Panther Ausf. D.....Is it Italeri 1/35 Panther, and where you get that engine?

Are those vinyl tracks? New tracks as well or only a repaint?

Personally I think the paintjob is really good as it is

It`s Italeri 1/35 Panther D with Aber photo Etch and the original Vinyl Tracks . I have some Fruil Tracks and some Tamiya ones but they are for Ausf G`s so not sure if they will look right . I will have to see if i can get some replacements . The Engine from memory came with the kit but it could do with a few added details .

Cheers Plushy

I looks good just as it is but, yes, a new set of tracks and a flashy paintjob will really bring it into life.

James I agree with the other doods, looks good as is except for the tracks.
I really like your damage to the rear bins and your leaking -engine- oily stuff out of the rear engine starter hatch.
Tracks
- according to my sources the only difference between G and D tracks was the Ice cleats [on A's and G's]. These were introduced into production inSept. 43. They were moulded with 6 chevroned cleats 10mm wide to increase traction and reduce sliding. This date coincides with the end of D production. Also, I cannot find a photographic reference of a D with 'cleated' tracks'....maybe if you were doing a survivor at the end of the war you could depict one with retro-fitted late tracks.
Hope this helps.
Ian.

This example shows the inital series 16 bolt road wheels, chevron track and no Zimmerit. It's probably a late June or July 1943 (communications port on turret side, only one Bosch head light) production fitted with chevron tracks at the factory. Note the Panther behind has the early pattern tracts. The fact it has the initial road wheels, is why I doubt the chevron tracks were added later.
