For some reason I have a ton of stalled projects sitting on my shelf right now. I know that I am not as bad as some (you know who you are :-) ), but it is bumming me out that I can't seem to get motivated to complete these projects. :-(

The reason that I am posting this is that I am hoping for a bit of motivation and/or inspiration. :-)

Project #1: Polish TK-3 Tankette

Begun:
Summer 2001.

Parts Used:
- Tom Modellbau TK-3 (rebox of RPM TK-3)
- Aber PE

Reason stalled:
The Aber set has you scratch-building a mount for the exhaust which is rather compicated and at the time was well beyond my skill level. In fact, I'm not sure it is within my current skill level either.

Current State:

Project #2: British Tadpole

Begun:
Summer 2001.

Parts Used:
- Encore Tadpole

Reason stalled:
This kit was basically a piece of crap and has been a pain in the butt from the beginning. As you can see all it needs is detail painting, weathering, and a base. I would like to make it really muddy and have a couple of Tommys charging with it through no man's land, but I just can't get the motivation up to work on it.

Current State:

Project #3: British Sherman ARV Mk. I

Begun:
Summer 2002.

Parts Used:
- DML Vc Firefly
- Resicast ARV Mk. I Conversion
- Fort Duquesne wheels
- Aber PE
- RHPS tracks

Reason stalled:
The Aber fenders do not fit the hull properly which really pissed me off as I had cut the kit fenders off to use the Aber ones.

Current State:

Project #4: German Ferdinand

Begun:
Fall 2002.

Parts Used:
- DML Ferdinand
- Royal Models PE
- Royal Models Fenders
- Jordi Rubio barrel
- Friulmodel tracks

Reason stalled:
I realized that I was going to have to solder the fenders if there was any hope of them staying on which made me really nervous at the time as I hadn't done any soldering yet. I am quite a bit more confident in my soldering abilities now so there is a high likelyhood of this project getting picked back up soon.

Project #5: Croatian T-55A

Begun:
Fall 2004.

Parts Used:
- Tamiya T-55A
- Eduard PE
- Eduard barrel
- Friulmodel tracks

Reason stalled:
I am planning on doing this vehicle as a Croatian tank named "Marina". The main reason that I stalled was that I wasn't looking forward to doing the plumbing for the fuel tanks.

Current State:

Project #6: Czech T-72M4CZ

Begun:
Winter 2004.

Parts Used:
- Tamiya T-72M1
- Panzershop T-72M4CZ conversion
- Eduard barrel
- Friulmodel tracks
- Friulmodel Dshk

Reason stalled:
I fell in love with the looks of this vehicle when I saw this conversion kit and knew I wanted to build it. Unfortunately I ran into a bit of a fit problem which I don't really know how to work around. If any of you have any pointers on how to correct this problem please let me know.

Current State:

Project #7: German Sd.Kfz. 251/9

Begun:
Winter 2004.

Parts Used:
- Tamiya Sd.Kfz. 251/9
- Part PE
- Jordi Rubio barrel
- Aber tool clasps
- Link Model Workshop tracks

Reason stalled:
No real excuse other than I was trying to get another kit done in time for AMPS 2004 and I lost steam.

Current State:

Project #8: German Panzerbefehlswagen I

Begun:
Winter 2004.

Parts Used:
- Zvezda/Italeri Panzerbefehlswagen I
- Eduard PE
- Collector's Brass MG-34 barrel
- Friulmodel tracks
- Tamiya horn
- Moskit exhaust

Reason stalled:
Basically, I just got disgusted. The Eduard grill didn't fit the hole properly and through the whole rear end out of alignment and I tried to replicate weld lines, but they have come out a bit too thick and I was in no mood to try to redo them. I was going to try and make this kit into the vehicle that the Brits captured in North Africa (currently resides at Bovington) just before it was knocked out. I may pick this project back up again as a practice project for paint chipping effects as the vehicle I am modelling was panzer grey oversprayed with dark yellow.

Current State:

You have some very nice work going on these projects Adam, it'd be a shame not to finish some of them.

I'd love to see that T-55 finished up in her Croation scheme...perhaps you could knock those fuel lines out faster than you think?

I know how it is. I have several subjects to finish off but have lost interest mainly because of poor fit on the particular kit or just lost interest. Listed below are my "In waiting" subjects.

Tamiya Sdkfz 232 8 Rad. + photoetch Begun spring 2004.

DML Panzer IIC DAK. begun 2004? Poor track alignment so I purchased a set of Model kasten track and now the kit drive sprockets will not fit Model Kasten tracks.

DML SdKfz 251/22. Begun Winter 2005. Poor fit of gun cradle assy. That was more of a builder error as I did not test fit enough and followed the instruction sheet and did not find out that the instructions were wrong. I have started covering the mistake with cammo net and while that helps disguise the flaw I am not happy.

Tamiya Willys jeep. May 2005. Impossible you say? Yes, this is a "weekend kit" however I am trying to fit a top and fabricate the rear side panels to the top. Great reference of this can be seen at the begining of the Kelly's Heroes film on DVD by playing it slowwwly.LOL

I di finish the DML M4A1 started on at the Modelers Retreat at Ft. AP Hill last Feb. This is a tank from First Armd. Div. with the white undershading on the lower hull sides and counter shading on the underside of the gun tube. I grafted a set of Tamiya side skirts on this as well and that took some time.

I have almost finished my DML Initial Tiger 1. Its those pesky magic tracks not fitting so well. I have an improvised jig for them on the bench to help keep the runs straight but this is time consuming as you all know. Project begun May 2005.

The way to motivate myself to finish a kit is I try to find books about the subject and color plates. Looking over these I try to visualize my model being on the bench and finishing it. Thats the only way I know how to motivate myself. On another note I would like to go on the record and state that I only have about one dozen kits and a few acsessory sets on my storage shelf, Really! I find if I have too many kits lying about I will never work on 'em.
Good luck Adam!
