Cheap Charlie's cheap tips

Cheap Charlie's #1 tip

Well I told members here about how I don't buy blades any more [nor have I for many years]. I use a common tool from the Fishing 'n Tackle shop [cost should be low on these].
Just make sure you only draw the blade through it one way, from handle to tip, and you should get forever out of just one blade so don't throw anymore away

A good one is this design and but by no means the only type out there.
[sorry about the shite photos]

Why would the clowns not let people into the tent? What's the point of the show if they don't? .

Cheap Charlie's #2 tip

Keep your super-glue in the fridge when not in use. It stops it "going off" and lasts all the way through to the end [I hate the disappointment of finding a hard lump of glue in the bottle just when you need it.

Cheap Charlie's #3 tip

Tamiya Extra Thin Cement.
If you are doing a lot of gluing and are in 'n out of the bottle a lot you can flip the lid upside down. This stops the fumes/evaporation from the bottle while your working and you can loop a finger around to remove it without the need to un-thread the cap.

Hope that helps .

Transformers from old telephones and other apparatus are good sources of different sizes of wire.

Scalpel blades (ask your doctor) are much cheaper and much better steel than hobby blades. They come in the same sizes and fit most hobby knives.

There are many cheap alternatives in an automotive store. Automotive lacquer thinner will work as a safe thinners for most enamels, and works well to clean airbrushes and paintbrushes. It costs $1 per liter.

Automotive body putty is inexpensive, about $5 for a 16oz tube that will last forever. It works as well or better than hobby putty.

A points file for spark plugs is a very handy tool. Cheap, and more durable than hobby files.
