KO'ed Jagdtiger

Hi all it's been quite some time since I last posted here so I thought I should start back up again. I plan on building the older Dragon Jagdtiger that I bought at a local model show, I paid $20 or so. I had planned on doing some interior work and removing the roof plate on this, but after seeing the gun breech I decided not to take the roof off and just go with the kit parts.
I painted the interior a dark umber color using hull red and black since the tank is to be burnt out. The only thing you can see inside the tank is some of the gun, so I decided to paint that a bit.

I gave the gun a dark/thick oil wash then applied rust powder to the still wet oils and used a hair dryer to speed up the drying.

Next came a heavy coat of hair spray and some salt.

The hair dryer once again to dry the spray and secure the salt.

I then applied a couple of light coats of Tamiya white with a drop of buff. Again the hair dryer to speed things up.

The salt and HS removed revieling the underlying rust.

Another dark wash applied and dryed with the you know what.

After applying a bit of rust powder and black pastel chalk powder this is how the gun looks. I'll leave at is since most of it will not be seen.

The upper and lower hull was dry fitted and then glued together.

I started adding some torch cuts to the upper hull and some small caliber pock mocks and more will follow. I'll try to keep this updated as it progresses.

Rob-
Beautiful man- and thanks for taking the pics along the way.

The more I see it the more it sinks in.

The effects you get really are amazing!

Thanks for looking and the positive feedback guys. I like to use the Salt/Hs a different way when doing my wrecks and rust buckets, it gives it a more realistic texture and you can still remove the paint weeks later. I'll be filling holes and adding weld seams today if I have time.

There's so much brialliancy around at planetarmor, I'm always baffled anew! Rob, the rust / burn stains look AWESOME.

How did you make these torch cuts?

Quick up date

Thank Johannes glad you like it and I agree with you, there are some top notch modelers on PA.
Ok I did the weld seams on the front and rear of the hull using Squadron white putty and my home made welding tools. These have come in handy over the years.

Next I added some pock marks and a bit more small (mg) caliber marks. Once again using high tech tools, metal rods with rounded ends of different diameter. For the small caliber marks I simply hit the model with the smallest/pointed end and heated the larger ones with a lighter. Simple as that.

Here is the round that did this JT in. A direct hit below the sponson, right where the fuel tanks are located.

Here are some of the items I would like to use on this model. First some parts from the Lion Roar Kingtiger PE set.

Next and I'm not sure which to use are the tracks. Here is what I have. I was thinking more toward the Transport tracks. Which of these can I use on this model????

I hope to get back to this model this evening.

Rob
