Hi James.

I hope this is what your after, all info from Tigers in Combat II.

The Hummel Coy was subordinated to 506 on 18 December 44, until mid february 45 before being reassigned to Panzer Brigade 106.

The series of pics below show Tiger 201, it was abandoned in Elsdorf.

KG Hummel was listed as 506's fourth company (there is a shot of 411 in TIC2), while they were meant to be re numbered (see 111 below) when they joined PzrBge 106.....I have no idea why this Tiger is numbered 201, my guess is its an ex 503 Tiger 1, judging by the numbering style, and they havent renumbered it.....or the photo has been miscaptioned!

Cheers, Willy.

Thanks Willy, for taking the time and trouble to post those pics. I do have the TIC II book and there is some good images in the Reystan book on Tigers on the Western Front as well. The others are new.

I'm not really one of those guys who would write those long posts about the histories of any Panzer Division, I'm not really that knowledgeable on them.
I was thinking that it might be a good idea if there were pinned topics in this Axis category of all the different Panzer Divisions and sAbt.
People could add fotos or histories, stories and comments about each group and the vehicles in them. Over time these could become useful source of information that users could look into should they be researching a specific Panzer say from a specific division.

That E-bay picture- I think I may have bid on that- it was on the Canadian E-bay.

Just to add a bit more trivia,
[Correct me if I am wrong willy] but wasn't 201 the first Tiger to engage a super Pershing.......and it nailed it big time!
Super what.......

Actually Ian it was just a "plain" Pershing.

Cheers,
Mike

Thanks Mike,
I thought that might have been the case, I was trying to remember from the bit in Green's book. The 'super' is shown on the opposite page and I must have gotten over zealouswith my memory.
Still got a Pershing though, gotta love that.

Hi Fella's

This shot is from Dragons thread about KG Fehrmann. However, it should be in this thread.

See pics above of Schwere Panzerkompanie Hummel's Tiger "111".

I'll try again though I don't recall what I wrote exactly before it got wiped!

This is some info on the Pershing David Doyle posted on the ML Allied DG

" "Fireball", W-30119848, T26E3 serial number 38 never fired a shot in combat. It was knocked out Feb 26 1945 at 20:00 at Elsdorf. It was securing a roadblock and backlit by a fire, silhoutteing its turret. A Tiger behind a building 100 yards away got off 3 rounds. Round 1 penetrated the turret at the coaxial gun mount, killing the gunner and loader. The second round struck the muzzle brake, the impact firing the 90mm round in the breech. Even though the round cleared the tube, the altered ballistics caused the gun tube to swell about halfway down. The third 88 round glanced off the turret, striking the open cupola hatch cover. The tank was recovered, repaired and returned to combat 7 March 1945."

These photos also come via David

Cheers _ Andrew
