Sturm Infanteriegeschutz 33 kitbash

Well, After discussing an idea with LQ (Lawrence) I decided to go ahead with a new project...thanks Lawrence for the help, and the photos...I'll probably be asking more as I go!!

First some photos:

So, this will be a kitbash of the DML StuiG 33 and the Tamiya Stug III G kits using some AM goodies:

Part StuIG 33 PE set
Part PE Nuts and Bolts set
Modelkasten Stug III G Sprocket and Diff. Gear Housing set
Mosket Stug exhausts
scratchbuilt Barrel (hopefully)
Modelkasten Stug III tracks (future)
Part PE Stug III E-F fenders (future)
On the Mark Gun Tube Linings (150mm)

Planning to start this soon, since my Ferdinand project is stalled (need to add hatch hinges and gun barrel for top armor, then work on lower hull stuff).

I think I can add some beginning photos tomorrow...some minor surgery on the DML kit first though...

Later guys and thanks for looking...

Paul

Looking forward to your build. Will be refering to this blog when I get round to mine. I got it all mapped out in my head but keep getting distracted by all these new kits

Good luck on your build

Sturm Infanteriegeschutz 33

Some test shots to check the feasibility of this build...top and bottom hulls only taped.

Rear end shot showing the rear exhaust outlet...

side view...modelkasten sprockets etc

Front view showing some plastic strips added to armor....sorry it's blurry

another view...looks like it will fit

Now I need to remove all the side detail and I will replace with the Part PE fender set...I still have to order it. This set includes all the side, and rear flanges plus the fenders and brackets.

Here's a link:

http://www.jadar.com.pl/part/p35086/...es/p35086.html

And on Part's web site a model using the PE set:

Model by: Krzysztof Sroka
I will also need to fill the sides of the 2 halves, alot of gaps, but nothing too big. The front of the hull might be a problem since the front plate is at a different angle than the DML one, but I think I can sand it enough for a match.

Thanks for looking...Paul
