Review: The Nordic Edge model gallery

Hi guys, I recently recieved this new book in the mail and this is what I think of it...

The Nordic Edge model gallery is a new book from the swedish publisher Canfora form och förlag.
You might think, so what, it's probably just another model magazine, but think again.

It is a softcover book with 148 pages, with the foreword written by Anthony Greenland and believe you me it's packed burst full with goodies from some very inspireing scandinavians, actually fourteen of them !

The book oozes quality and feels very modern. It has a kind of "coffee table book" feel about it. It's size and format is very good too.

I have found that the books main focus lies on the picture quality, where it excels with it's large, clear pictures and that they have a great variation of subjects.
You'll find both german, japanese, american and russian subjects and a very special World War I diorama.
It covers both figures, armor and dioramas, you'll get a little bit of everything, hard edge camouflage and IR Panther research articles by Mirko Bayerl and even an airplane !

All in all I'm convinced that you'll find alot that interests you in this book

If you want to know more visit their website: http://www.nordicedgemodel.com

All the best guys,
Kris

I'm looking forward to seeing this book. Per Olav Lund is member of the local hobby club, and I have had the good fortune of being able to see some of his work "live". Most impressive!

Here's a shot of the base of his most recent work in progress. I hope it will be ready for our Nationals coming up in less than two weeks.

I saw this on ML and I must say that it looks very realistic. The wood looks good and it's difficult to get the red to look weathered and faded.

Excellent work by Per Olav

Looks like a good book.

Per Olav, in my opinion, is one of the very best in the world. Do I also see Mirko's 251 there?

quality of the book itself

Hello everybody,

although i am pretty convinced that the quality of modelling displayed in the book is up to a very high standard, i am not quite sure about the book itself.

Over at ML there appeared reports that delivered books were defect up to a broken spine.

Has anyone here received the book yet and can report on the quality?

She-who-will-be-obeyed would give me a terrible speech to spend money on a broken book - she thinks i am already wasting too much money on "books that contain only one picture that you dont have seen yet"

Hello Stefan,
I've just been speaking to the guys at Nordic Edge and they told me that the book binding quality is good and now the packaging is more sturdy, so the book should arrive just fine.

If you have any further questions please contact: www.nordicedgemodel.com

Regards,
Kristoffer

No, this won't work - i used this approach too often in the past. Now she's aware.

Nevermind.

Guys,

I have found a good method to convice the home front.
Build more (as in: finishing it completely), buy less and just tell this book is obligatory to the hobby.
Well, at least that worked for me. I'm such a saint

About the book..........BUY IT!
Yes, Mirko's 251 is in it, and some of his other models, but also many other great models, dio's and figures.

Actually, for me this was one of those rare book purchases that didn't feel like :
" is that all I get ? "

really recommended stuff.
