Hi to all, here with another update on the construction of Dora, a lot has being done since last update, this time I have started the construction of the ammo cars to complement the gun. Here is how I did it…

To make the ammo cars I used two dragon models ssy heavy flat cars, this are modified to match the ones used with the gun.

Here are examples of ammo cars

One of Dora’s ammo cars

Similar ammo cars

The first step is to cut the frames to 11mm height

Here the frames are cut to 11mm

The frames are assembled and the floors glued as per instructions

The boogies are assembled

The balconies are made for each side using .80 styrene sheet

It measures 18 x 89x 11mm

The original front part is glued to each balcony

The finished balconies, 18mm longer on each side now

Now I started to make the front panels

Here are the measurements made using .80 styrene

First the bottom is cut 4mm from the edge on each side, 15mm height x 89 wide

Next the doors are marked and cut as per the drawing

The doors are 20mm wide x 48mm tall

The roof curvature is marked and cut

The panels are glued in place

There is a step on front of each entrance, it is to make the
floor level with the Elevator platform when loading the shell or charges

Again using .80 styrene the parts are cut

Each step measures 89mm wide x 4mm deep x 13mm height

The steps are installed

Time for the side walls or panels

This are made with .80 styrene measuring 270mm long x 65mm height

The panels are glued to the front parts

The parts are tested on the chassis

So far so good

There is a gap between the side panels and the chassis, this is caused
by the extra 4mm added to the front panels on each side, I used a T shape
Measuring 3.2 x 3.2mm to fix it

The Tees are glued to each side of the chassis

The gap is fixed, here you can see the T in place

I added two more walls to the interior to use as supports
For the roofs
Using the same .80 styrene the wall are made, measuring
95mm wide x 91mm height

The roof curvature is marked and cut

The wall are glued in place, this walls DOES NOT EXIST ON THE REAL CARS
I added it to make some supports for the upcoming roofs panels

A view of the underside

The cars are almost finished, working on painting it
and applying decals.

More soon and thanks for watching

Hi to all,
Work on the cars continues, the roofs are done and now details are added

The ladders are next, this are made with .80 wire

Five steps 15mm wide are made, this are positioned 10mm apart from the bottom up and 5mm from the side, the top step is placed 10mm from the door edge

The position of the steps is marked

The steps are made with the .80 wire to 15mm wide

The steps are installed 5mm from the side edge

Now the floors are made using .70 styrene sheet, measuring 87 x 95mm

To make the floors even with the entrance step I used 4 pieces of angle L of 1.70 x 6.3 x 6.3mm
One for each corner

The angles are glued to the corners

The floors are glued in place over the four L angles in the corners

With the floors done now the roof panels can be installed

The roof panels measure 280mm long x 145mm wide, made with .70 styrene sheet

The panels are centered and I started gluing it from the middle down to one side, then the other
Side, holding it with masking tape and clamps

Using clamps and a steel ruler the sides a glued to the side panels

The finished roof

Now the side ladders are made, I used 2.4 x 2.4 angle to make the parts
You need 16 pieces 24mm long and 16 pieces 12mm long for each car

One side of each of the 24mm pieces is cut in a 45 angle

The parts are glued together

From the bottom up make a mark at 12mm to start an angle finishing at 1.2mm on the top

After all 8 ladders are made I started the construction of the long handle support
One for each corner of the car

Using the same 2.4 x 2.4 angle cut 8 pieces 48mm long and make 8 20mm long handles
With .80 wire, the handle is glued 10mm from the top of the platform floor

Bafter the ladders are glued in place you need to mark an opening on the side wall
It measures 3mm tall x 1mm on each side

The marks are done 3 x 1 x 1

A starting hole is made with a drill bit

With the knife the hole is cut

The ladder is finished with 6 bolts 3 on each side, the same for the handle support bar

Ammo car

Ladder details reference

Handle support bar reference

Here you can see the ladders and large handle support bars

That’s for now, still a little more to do on the cars doors and air conditioning
Connections to finish with the cars.

Thanks for watching!
