Tamiya Panther G (late version) 1/35 2nd-try

Hello,

It's been almost 1.5 years since I started a thread here. It was my first attempt after many years to complete a model.

Unfortunately, the attempt ended miserably

As I had written, I didn´t want to let that discourage me.
So ... with new courage .... a new attempt to finish this great model



I will use following items for the build
- TAMIYA 35176 Panther Type G Late Version
- ABER A35G14 Grilles for Tamiya Panther
- ABER R-23 Cleaning Rod
- VOYAGER PEA072 InfraRed-Equipment (for the tool box only)
- E.T. E35-115 Etched upgrade kit (but for DML 6268)
- E.T. EA35-024 Schürzen
- ADD ON Parts AOP35022 Panther IR-Box and Spare Wheel
- EUREKA ER-3501 Towing cable for Panther
- RB 35B006 7,5cm KwK 42 L/70
- PANZER ART RE35-017 Panther Ausf. G Kinn Mantlet with cast marks
- ACCURATE ARMOUR A116 Panther Ausf. G update kit (for the old DML Kit)
- ARCHER DECALS
- Friul tracks (assembled for my previous build)



.... and there is a full kit DML 6268 that I will cannibalize (I will only take the absolutely essential parts thereof)

....like the cupola .... I did some structure to it with putty and did the missing welds with stretched sprue

First the problem with wrong plate joins.







Next thing will be the weld seems at the plate joins and adding structure to the turret sides

Hello Serpico,

....no great progress at the moment.

Tried to replicate some welding seams for the turret.




Removed the front fenders.



Drilled out the attachment points and closed the holes with stretched sprue. Then sanded it down




Raised the armor-plating in front of driver and radio operator hatch with sheet







So...slow progress

Nice Start on the Panther!
I would like to suggest that if you are have a hard time finishing models you try working on something a bit simpler. Maybe something out of the box? Or maybe limit the amount of aftermarket items. Otherwise A.M.S. will take over and you will find it very hard to finish.

Hello Dave,

building ooB would not be a challenge for me.

But you are right. In this case the aftermarket stuff ist too much and I definitely will not use all of it.
