Fujimi King Tiger Photoetch - 1/76

I'm about to embark on Fujimi's 1/76 King Tiger (the one with the interior detail) and was wondering if there is a photoetch set for it.

I'm aware of a 1/72 set for Revell's version but I'm uncertain as to how well that would fit on a 1/76 Fujimi.

Any help would be appreciated.

cheers,

bj

If the Fujimi kit is a true 1/76, I doubt that a 1/72 etch is going to be of any use to you (ie its going to be too big)

G'day Teags

Thanks for your response.

Yes, I realise it's going to be bigger, I guess it's a matter of how much bigger?

I'm not too concerned about proper scale as the final product is going to my 9yo nephew for his wargaming but I did want to go to some trouble (hence the model with the interior).

cheers,

bj

Hi BJ,
Good, King Tiger going to a good cause! Etch will be about 5% too big (but dont trust my maths!), so you might be able to trim them down-I've used good nail scissors. Not sure what is in the set for the Revell kit, but you can probably trim things like engine screens, skirts etc without much trouble. Teags
PS Built a trumpeter E25 for my nephew too!

Actually Teag, 5% is really close (I think it's closer to 5.555555555555%) but let's not get too carried away.

So, on something that is 9.5cm long, such as the side skirts on the King Tiger, they will be just under 5mm too long and something that is 1cm across (such as the grille covers you mention) would be about 0.5mm too big.

I can live without the side skirts - it's really all the other little bits and pieces.

The Revell kit is, apparently, to scale but I haven't been able to find a review of the Fujimi kit - I'm almost tempted to do one although the kit is apparently discontinued so I'm not sure of the benefit of one - and I'm not a serious rivet counter, either.

Thanks for your reply.
