Thanks Coops, T90, Luiz, Serpico, Ian, Marco, Arild, Ropi and James!

Yeah, Kit bashing is the funniest thing in our hobby!

Serpico, I'll check quantity of fire extinguishers. Thanks for notification.
After some trimming the front dash board fits normally.

Arild, here is the photo with them on Ausf C:

Thanks for the reference, Andrey! Come to think of it, I may have seen this one before, possibly in Panzer Tracts. Well, memory is slow in summer...

But I'm still somewhat doubtful whether this was the normal position of this item on the Ausf. D (or even the C), though. But I wouldn't be much surprised to find a 251 with any odd configuration, so you're likely to be safe here.

These were armour plates that could or could not be placed on the back of the chairs, and when not used stowed on the side walls. A shot showing one on a 250 from Jan Suermondt's colour profile book on World War II Wehrmacht Vehicles.

I think there was only one on the right side on the D model.(Squadron Signal 251 Walk Around, Hans-Heiri Stapfer)
All my references show two spots on the back wall. This one from Model Detail Photo Monograph No.22 on the 251/D from Rossagraph.

Thanks a lot, James!

Armor fiend, it's very simple - taking one part from one kit and another part from another kit - everything without difficult changes, just trimming

Sorry for the mis-information Gopher.....I guess you can't always believe what you read eh? In the end just makes us all more knowledgeable.

I thought the info from the Squadron book was pretty reliable as I heard it was a good book...

Some great photos in the book though.

Regards, Paul

Paul any chance getting a look at some of them? Maybe one showing the back wall showing the one spot?
Here is another example of the two place configuration that I photographed in a 251/9 at Munster.

Interesting project,

Be aware that the Tamiya kit has two important flaws, the upper engine hatches are proud instead of flush, and there's something going on with the location of the road wheel arms.

Looking forward to your progres.
