Got this kit for Fathers Day and hadn't given it much thought until I saw some completed works by Michael Rinaldi, Sticky and Spencer Pollard. What I saw I really liked and ended up cracking the kit open and having a go at it.

Unfortunately the memory card in my camera died so I didn't get shots in progress. I did get one sprue shot and a shot of the chassis and now the primered shots.

Total time took about five hours or so. I added the LionRoar set which really isn't needed, as well as some scratchbuilt items of my own (wiring, tow cable clips, etc). Next stop spraybooth....

We will be going with a winter whitewash on this one.

Looks great so far Stuke! I like the PE cable holders and the intake screens - those are real time savers! What else was in the set?

Thanks for looking guys!

Andrew, the "kitchen sink" is left open as I have not yet screwed the upper hull down to the lower hull to facilitate painting and weathering. Kind of a nice little feature of this quarter scale.

Please give Gordy a email, as I am sure that these guys would love to see that little StuG IV of yours.

Sam, I almost picked up the Hetzer kit from the LHS last weekend. But really, I have enough kits and it's time to actually start building them.

James, it feels good to be gluing and posting once again! I must say that your blogs continue to be an inspiration. I just don't know how you do it all with only 24 hours a day.

John, I'm not sure if I would recommend the LionRoar set. It includes PE details for the storage "rack", antenna holder, screens and bits for the tool clamps (which I insanely used despite hardly being able to see them). It also has a little metal barrel. In the end, it would've been more cost efficient to just scratch those items.

Probably won't get to painting until the weekend, and concentrate on the Sturer build until then.

Nice going, the more I see of this kit the more I want one. I just can't seem to get past the 1/48 thing...being a hardcore 1/72 guy and all

Yet, I keep seeing build after build and they all look great, this one no exception!

Cheers,
Donovan

No metal rifling on the barrel John. Like I said, probably not worth the 15 bucks!

C'mon Christopher, you know you want to try one. Hell, it'll seem huge to you!

To heck with all your kits! Go get the hetzer. In another 5 hours you'll be back to your original kit count
