Wink DML Panther G "Smart Kit"

This is the start of my DML panther. The turret is almost done, I still need to add the rear hatch grab handle. The texturing is Mr. Surfacer. I scratch built the mantle rain guard because the plastic one was waaaay to thick. Anyway, you can dent metal :] I still need to sand the seam smooth in the first pic, and to fill the seam on the bottom. Enjoy!

The turret looks great! I have a feeling that this kit by Dragon can make even the most average of modelers (ie me) look good.

I really didn't want to buy this kit. I have too many Tamiya Panthers as it is. Oh bother. Nice job so far!

IMO none of the Tamiya Panthers compare to this kit at any level. I haven't decided on the markings yet, I'm building it as one of the last to leave the factory though...

The turret is preshaded now.

some touch up with Mr. Surfacer (stupid name)

Stupid me, I accidently glued one of the bump stops on upside down. Luckily, there are quite a few extras so...

Cut off:

filled:

and glued on. looks like I'll have to do a bit more filling

Some great detail on the final drives:

This kit is amazing. However, ther is only so much you can do with plastic:

I built the jack support out of brass and plastic bits Here is the finished jack

Here is the handle for the jack bracket

I added some dents to the flamenverfers(sic)

The plastic brackets lokk ok, but I decided to replace them with brass.

The new brackets are currently under constuction.

And here is the kit one:

I got the bolts from the "A" sprue- they're moulded right on, a nice touch

Here's the kit jack bracket:

And here is the scratched one

Two views of the compleated bracket:

More to follow.
Enjoy!
