IPMS Nationals 2013

Hello fellow styrene addicts,

It’s August again and that means time for the IMPS Nationals. This year the show is been hosted is Loveland, Colorado. The show started yesterday at noon, and so far it’s been a lot of fun. I spent most of the afternoon sifting thru the vendor’s tables and by the end of the day I had managed to acquire most of my wish list.

I then headed for the show room which was pretty full in spite of the fact that it was only Day 1. I quickly got lost in the model time warp and only managed to look at about one third of the models before it was time to go. Here is a few of the ones I found interesting. I will be posting the highlights of the show each day until Saturday night when it ends so come back and check.

Now I could not help but get a profound sense of Déjà vu when I saw this one. It was titled "Commander's Dilemma" I am sure all of you “Old School” modelers out there will surely understand. =)

This is dave reporting live from IMPS Nationals in Colorado.

You are welcome Alex,

Well, its been two brutal days of non stop sensory overload. The armor entries seemed to duplicate every time I turned around and by Friday night we were looking at several hundreds just in armor alone!!

I have to admit that the quality of the entries this year has surpassed the last few years by far. That made our job judging quite a bit harder. Here are a few more of my favorite models.

Yes, it was a very good show with outstanding facilities. The vendor area was weak but there were still deals to be made. I was prepared to spend alot more money but just didn't have to because there wasn't a whole lot there to spend it on. I do disagree with the quality of the builds though. Although there were alot of very nice models (the U.S.S. Langley and Farmall tractor were outstanding), I thought on the average the builds were just not up to par (and that includes my own). I know in one catagory, we spent 45 minutes trying to figure out which build had the least amount of mistakes to qualify for third place. All in all though it was a good show and look forward to next year although I am not sure I will be able to attend.
