link and length and plastic individual track links

Am I the only one who finds the above (espeically the individual links as provided by Dragon, Tamiya and such like) a total pain and garanteed to bring on an attack of foaming dog feaver (as my friend calls it) or not? Would something like Modelkasten with thier positive joing system be the way to go?

Hey Simon,

That's an interesting subject. I have found that many people don't like link by link tracks.

The jig idea is good but I find that the method of construction (Using the tiny pins) can be more time consuming and depending on the type of tracks they can be very fragile, so many people don't like them.

As most of you know, I have severe allergies to vinyl tracks , so here is my opinion. for 1/35th scale if you can afford it, Friulmodel is the way to go. Otherwise I prefer the plastic links, as they offer a lot of flexibility.

For 48th and 72nd scales, link and length are the best option. So If you find them frustrating the one id say is keep practicing.

I hope this helps

dave

I think that I'm going to try Friulmodel tracks on my next tracked kit, I'm cheating at the moment and building wheeled equipment
