James, you have 100% right. I'm still working on wood painting technique, thats the biggest defect of my model. Next time i will also paint tires more grey.

WOW!

This is a model that will inspire me for future projects.
Only criticism is the decal. I think they stand out being so fresh in perspective to the rest of the vehicle. Perhaps you can tone them down with some filters?

I've read in a couple places that German wooden tool handles were made from a redder wood than the Allies and Soviets used.

just a quick search pulled up these entrenching tools, doesn't mean it's a complete proof but these seem to be not very red.
