Beautiful work as always, Rob! Your soldering looks really good to me - you've avoided excess lumps and flux blobs/greasiness and the joints look "hot". You don't really even have to clean up the toolmarks because they'll be hidden. Do you use a conventional soldering iron or a resistance soldering rig? I've often thought the latter would be great for teeny-tiny-parts-soldering demands of working with PE detail sets.

I use an adjustable temperature soldering iron, if that's what you mean Andy.
But this can be done at one temperature really. Just remember to use a "bridge" to guide the heat away from the previously soldered spot.

I sprayed the skirts sort of primer red on the inside. Got a blurry picture to prove that

Work progressed

Road wheels before:

And after:

Track weathered with Uschi von der Rostens' Friul burnishing agent

Only the first step, but a pretty nice base to work from.

And I decided that the base colour of this Hetzer was green, so I sprayed the lower hull areas green. And the rest of the hull also a bit, rather than throwing away paint (silly me ).

I finished the figure. Left arm and head are not permanently fixed yet.
All done in acrylics.

I pre-mudded the lower hull sides. More to come, but gotta start somewhere

Tracks were treated with oil paint washes and pigments and got rubbed with my finger

Wheels received pinwashes and first highlights using Liquitex inks. Only one yellow wheel got a little more ink weathering. More to come

That's it for now

More Hetzer, at last

While being present at the show of Modelling Club Lier in Belgium in December last year, I was working on my Hetzer, when Harry Steen from MXpression approached me. After a short conversation he mentioned he would like to do the masks for the camo scheme I had in mind and market them.
So I put the project aside and a few weeks later Harry sent me a set of his new masks. Unfortunately I had little time for modelling since, but last week I was able to sqeeze in a few days of mainly masking and a little airbrushing.
The masks are a great product, and although I needed a little extra help around the larger protruding details, I can really recommend using them. Saves a lot of extra time of research, drawing, cutting etc. yourself.

The little extra help also came from MXpression in the form of their Panzer Putty. Sure, you can use Blue Tac or any equivalent, but this stuff is superb. It sags onto the model by itsself, and you can pull it into incredible thin threads in case that's what you're looking for. Weird stuff, but highly recommended for your next camo job.

Anywayz, 'nuff said...pics please!

Hatches will open if you say the magic word. Next station: Weatheringtown.
