crigget ???? lol
I see we are letting you win some one dayers, shows what good sports we are

Yes good point about the measures. The law did change here for fresh foods so fruit and veg have now to be sold in metric, but all the retailers do is show the imperial weight in large characters and the metric equivalent in tiny ones. There will always be some numpty who wants to make us fully euopean, but we will hunt them down !!!!

Well - where I grew up southern part of Germany - "a viertele" was the common unit for a glass of wine (meaning a quarter of a liter) but I always also enjoyed to have a pint of Guinness

The pint aint goung anywhere
Last spring I was in Cornwalls. Stopped for lunch at some "restaurant" by the side of the road. I ordered some steack and kidney pie and a pint of beer. The lil' lady who was taking care of the place looked embarrassed and said "I'm very sorry all we have is this" and handled me a can of beer that said "1/2 liter". When I asked her if this was more or less a pint she blushed and said "no clue". I then said to myself "what's the point of crossing the channel now if one can't drink a proper pint of bitter ?"

An half litre is slightly more than a pint, almost 17 ounces. An imperial pint, though, is 20oz.

True though since the smoking ban came into effect the local boozer has been steadily going into decline
However I dont think renaming the pint is going to be very popular

I cant imagine going into my local and asking anything other than a pint without leaving through one of the windows !
