WIP: T-70 in German service

So, this saturday I went to a hobby shop up in Stockholm to just get some pigments. Since the shop was all sold out of them I got a T-70 from MiniArt. It's a really nice kit and it's coming together quite nice. Had to fix some small air bubbles on the front armor thou. I gonna build it pretty much out of the box, but some things had to be changed.

The first thing I fixed was the netting over the ventilations. I started by drilling out and cutted out the plastic under the air vents. I used some 0.5 styrene that I sanded down a bit and some net I had in my spare box.

I'm gonna leave the turret hatch open for a figure, so I painted the interior white and going to give it some washes. I also painted the whole tank black inside, since I opened up the vents.

Next thing I did was adding the isolation (?) to the exhaust pipe. I used some masking tape, and even thou I thought it was going to be tough, it went quite easy. Going to do the other one next.

This is how far I have got now. I'm going to finnish it as a german tank in a three tone camouflage, so I have a question: Sould I leave the inside of the hatches "soviet green" or should I paint them yellow?

Hope you like it so far!

Hey Dagger,

Just for your info, the word is Insulation.

Nice project! I would paint the hatches same color as the camo yellow base coat or whatever it will be.

cheers, Paul

I built also a T-70 last year (as a Beutepanzer in Dunkelgelb). Its a nice kit. Decals are fine only tracks need patience. Three tone will be attractive.

Did some painting this weekend and today. I started of by priming the whole thing in in black.

Today I started on the yellow base color. I started by painting the inner part of a pannel and work my way out. Kind of a pre-shade.

Next I will give the whole thing a thin layer of yellow and then do some post shading.

Hello Planet Armor and fellow bulders! The spring is here and what is better than sitting in a room full of paint fumes?

I finally got my hands on some new paints and did some painting yesterday and today. Yesterday I finnished painting the base color of the camouflage (Hu83), then I did some panel high lights with Hu83+white.

Today was all about getting the camouflage done. I started with the green. Since I wanted a really light green I used HU80 ("grass green"). I have used this one once befor, and I really like the shade of it.

Next up was the brown spots. For this i used Hu160 ("German camouflage brown").

Now I will leave the model alone for a couple of days and let all the pait really cure befor I move on and do some oil filters. Hope you like it so far and please leave comments!!

Cheers, Henrik
