Here's another update.

I guess I finally see the use of the "U" shaped brackets: the MG spare barrel box was stowed there. It makes sense because directly above there're the brackets for stowing the actual MG.

Already pictured before, but here's one more shot of the big ammo holder brackets, now in place for good.

The opposite side wall.

The scissors scope could be exposed through the little extra lid in the commander's cupola. Because the commander was not supposed to hold the additional sighting by his own...

... an adequate apparatus was put under the casemate's roof.

On my model, however, the hatch will remain completely opened and the scissors scope is not going to be present, so the fixture was swiveled out of the way.

I also reworked the armored ventilation unit. Dragon placed the water drain hole on the right side, but all the pictures available to me show it on the left.

There'll be another update tomorrow (maybe the last for some time again).

Johannes

Well, here's the last update for the foreseeable future.

The ventilation unit has found its proper place and weld beads were added.

The foundry marks were also recreated ("R" b3 ). Tamiya provides little numbers and characters on their sprues, they're perfect for this task. Glueing the code on the casemate was only the first step, of course. I need to blend them in with a little Mr. Surfacer and steel wool later.

With a heavy heart, I also decided to fix the sliding covers for the aiming sight. After consideration I came to the conclusion that movable parts would rather hinder the painting but have any real benefit. At least the right half in direction of travel remains workable, at least for the moment.

The little guiding plates come with the ABER PE and were also given the proper weld beads.

At least one part could be primed!

Interior impression, RHS.

Interior impression, LHS.

This is how the Elefant will remain for the time being.
The photograph reflects the actual colors very well, at least on my monitor. I know it might look differently on yours, but what do you think of the dark yellow color used on the ball mount? I'm not really sure and would like to hear from you. Is it too dark? Any comments are very welcome!

Thanks for checking in.

Regards,
Johannes

Dark Yellow is one of those up in the air colors and what you have there looks fine to me Johannes.

Those peeks through the ports shots are fantastic.

Tony, thanks for your opinion and I'm glad you're liking the photographs. I've ordered several different "Dunkelgelbs", though. Depending on how they turn out, I'll repaint or leave it as is.

Well, now patience is needed before I get the next go on my model.

See you then,
Johannes

Oh no. I just checked out this thread and I am floored at the interior details going on here. I have no word I could use to described the awesomeness I see. Gesh ... if you paint this interior, you're crazy! Such beautiful execution and craftsmanship placing everything so carefully and neatly. Just a sweet job and I am in awe.

I have been bitten by the Elefant bug lately and this right here goes beyond the term "Beauty is only Skin Deep".
