1/24 M4A3 Sherman Project

One of the evils of new technology, is the fact that it makes soooo much possible. No longer do you have to wait or wish for a desired kit to be released by some company. You can simply do it yourself!

I have always liked 1/24 scale for armor models, but with the exception of a few soft skins (Willys Jeep, Kubelwagen, Schimwagen, Opel Blitz), there just isn't a lot available.

Sooooo.....several friends and I have decided to produce several kits of vehicles that we want to build in 1/24 scale.

This first one, an M4A3 Sherman is already in the works. Shown above is the turret blank printed in 3d. I will now take this blank and totally detail it up, add casting effects, foundry symbol, all of the visible part numbers, weld bead and such. The turret will then be molded and cast in resin for use on my model.

We will print all of the necessary parts as masters to be detailed and cast in resin. Many of the larger parts like the upper and lower hull will be scratch built from sheet plastic and cast in resin.

I will finish up this first M4A3 as a USMC tank on Iwo Jima.

Also in the pipeline are a T-55, LVT(A)-4, LVT4, BA-64 and a Japanese Type 95 "HA-GO".

I doubt that we can put them into production for retail sales, they would be expensive and who has time to produce them (not me).

We have been talking to a hobby company about possibly having these produced in a combination injection molded/resin/etch limited edition series of kits.

Bill Chilstrom has started a series of 1/24 scale figures to accompany these kits.

I am covering the whole design and production of the projects for use in a future magazine or other publication.

More Later......

Figures for small scene

You could maybe release a turret and some figures for a small 1/24 scene.
