ah ... OK.
So it seems this is not the best restored part of the StuG IV.
They actually simplified the part.
Better trust the Saumur ones for accuracy.

Yes. The Saumur parts look original, but are they?

When I was in Poznan this year, I have spoken with people who recover StuG. They didn't found normal muffler. One of them told me that the found a piece of exhaust pipe. That's it. So they build those pipes from scratch.

I wrote about it in "StuG walkaround" topic.

That's why I've posted this photo

StuG from Ponan have wrong and not oryginal exhaust pipes. Also late Schurzen wasn't mounted (damage of this parts was too big)

To be honest. Late StuG's from late 1944...couple photos...
Allmost all photos of late models are K.O vehicles...no exhaust parts...

On these we can't see exhaust type...

I belive that StuG from Poznan had late exhaust pipes.

Cheers !

yes definitely.
The "Möbelwagen" for example beeing the more complete and authentic one can find these days and it has these "flamenvernichters". So does the ¨Panzer IV L/70".

Hi Folks
Przemo, Laurent and Kuba thank you very much for the latest additions to the thread. Sorry for late answer but cause of end of year holiday season was bit away from the hobby.
Exchaust type there seems to be a bit of mistery but at the mom I would agree with the team that restored the piece. I examined all the pictures of the back plate of that particulair StuG and I could not find any traces of holes in the area where the muffler would be mounted. My guess is that if there would be a standard type muffler than there would be holes through which bolts holding it would go through. Do you agree with that way of thinking? The later exhaust had just two pieces of metal tha secured pipes and which were welded to horizontal plate at the backplate. So no holes needed there.

Did not do much more on that project so far. I am bit confused about the tracks there since seems noone makes such type of tracks. That is a pity since they can be spoted on many end of war wehicles like the Jagdpanzer IV/L70. Will continue on it since its a great subject and so much photoreference there thanks to Przemo.

Meanwhile did some work on a Pz.IV Befehlwagen Ausf.H that brought my attention. Found a picture of it at the FMR - Polish Modelling Forum. Think its interesting as it has mixture of features.

This is the one that kept me busy recently

And what I did so far on my circa May 1943 production Ausf.H

Pardon the wrong front plate of the turret but its not glued so far so no worries.

Chris
