Hello again,

I think this is way bigger than the dragon wagon because the trailer is in 3 individual components and there is a lot more work on the famo trailer than the D/W trailer.

I was surprised to see so many decals on the tractor unit. This would be the hardest thing by far building the trailer .I suppose the easiest way would be to paint and mask it and I took the difficult way.

Here are the tools of the trade of what I use for decaling all my vehicles .
first : spray gloss on the area where the decal is to go and then use warm water , paintbrush to position the decal onto the model. use tissue paper to soak any water away from the decal so it sucks the decal flat onto the model . Then flat clear once done. I use Testers dullcote for most of my flat clearing.

Here is the tractor unit toned down from earlier washes .
blue tac had been placed over the headlamps for the paint and wash section. More work to be done to the tilt over the cab .

Upper deck painted with Mig Ammo Dark grey base and Humbrol 63 for the Timber appearance .
A dark pin wash by Mig (DARK WASH)was added to bring out the depth in the timber on the trailer bed.

On the underside of the trailer I used the Tamiya earth effects mixed with Tamiya thinners broken down .
Gives a really good soil appearance .This will be painted with Tamiya earth to bring out the detail.

I moved my attention on creating a better looking tarp for the Famo .
Here I painted with Mig Ammo Olive green to give like a worn canvas appearance .

I used Mig (Dark Wash)as a pin wash mixed and broken down with 502 Abetelung thinners applied in the recesses and once dry I highlighted again with the mix of olive green and dark yellow on the raised edges.

Great for adding depth in detail once the cable is highlighted with a steel colour .

The driver had the neck area dremelled out and a hornet head test fitted .
The next stage is the figure painting .Wow , 6 months since last painting a figure.
I think I can do it .

Till next time .
I hope you enjoy the pics ,happy modelling
Michael

hello again ,
Here is an update to show the detail to the washes and chipping to the plastic cargo bed .

We have test fitted the cargo bay with load and he tarp to make sure they are a snug fit .There will be more items placed around the load to break it up.

Andrea colour was airbrushed onto the driver with Humbrol enamel being used as a base coat for the flesh parts on the face and arms .
Oils will bring the skin to life .

On holidays now so we should be able to tear into the trailer. happy days
.
Michael

Thanks Andrey

Apologies for the late reply .Head down working on the front trailer section.

Here's the next instalment .
Still a long way to go on the front trailer section so it's far from finished.

More progress to show
The front and back trailer units have now been screwed together to the trailer bed.

The jacks and shovels had the plastic fittings trimmed off and replaced with brass etch enhancements .
They look way better than the plastic offerings and it's onwards and upwards.
The jacks and shovels will be painted and detailed separately before being glued in place .

Back again
Small update for the ramps on the trailer.
Test fitted the driver in the rear compartment .Still more touch ups and rank insignia and collar patch's to go on .
May not see them when the roof is on but I know they are there.

Cheers
Michael

Thanks Guys

Back again with further progress.
The famo sides and tray have had the plastic tie handles trimmed off ready for the brass enhancements. Looking at the macro shots there is still a little more sanding to do
Also included the pipework for the air cylinders on the trailer.
Had a hell of a time trying to find reference shots on this area. All the reference books on the famo only address super detailing the Famo with everything you do not see and do not touch anywhere on the trailer it pulled in the early part of the war .
I've winged it to what I presume it may be .

Here they are
Thanks for looking

Michael
