TMD/Tamiya BEF Matilda

Up next on my work bench is a fun and quick project. I am building the Tamiya Matty with the Tiger Models BEF Backdate. I used the TMD Jig to reposition the suspension, which worked fine, but the TMD replacement parts must be compressed to fit, while the tamiya parts go with no problem

More gumdrops!

While the subject is really fab, the conversion has some minor issues. Again the TMD part in my kit are misshapen. This is the nose piece from the TMD kit, notice the bow? Then look at the Tamiya part - straight across, I fiddled with the TMD part but couldn't gt it to match the Tamiya part, so I decided to back date the Tamiya part - not too difficult, but kinda risky as a mess up here would ruin the kit...

Ooops, looks like someone pulled it from the mold too soon. It really doesn't look that bad from here, did you try heat?

I guess it doesn't matter, you've already got things moving along anyway.

Keep the Gumdrops coming.

Rick

I did the boiling water trick, but that didn't work. The nose is actually 3 parts, and they just didn't want to sit straight. I wonder if the masters were pulled too soon deforming the molds themselves?

More Moving Right Along... Up now tracks. These are the fab Bronco workable tracks - I highly recommend them! (You may notice a derth of TMD parts so far on this project - well, this will change soon as the next series of photos will show lots more! I also spoke to Jeff at TMD and he is looking into the issues. He did state that there have been no other negative feedback on the kit.

Here are the tracks

This has to be a record for me, 1 week 3 days for a 1/35 kit with link to link tracks.

Here is the finished build! Hope you like it.

John, it's a lovely, clean and sharp effort! And fast too! Nice job mate...
What is it going to be dark green over khaki green?

Best,
Cadu Souza

Thanks Cadu, yes two greens! Below is the revised mount. I added the wire to pull down the antenna.
