it is very rare that they wear, unless they fly into hailstones then the engines are screwed up. it's an epoxy paint. i keep forgething this is four pages long. so how is it hanging? think with the composite materials maybe they can include the color when they make the parts no more need to paint. just hope you get the right color panel whan you order a new one.

=) well i've seen some quite nicely weathered eagles... of course not russian style weathered because every jet has it's own place in hangar but still... i don't think they will stop painting jets because new ones are stealth-ish and special paint is used to make them even more stealtish, i don't think they can add that in to panel material and get same results... but then again... we don't know 99% of what war industries are capable of

the last of the real weathering dissapeared from the usaf with f4's and a7's, they got down on ground level and actually fly almost into a naphalm cloud , to drop the next canister. then the next generation f15 f16 got that gray finnish.

before that there were the bare metal f100 and f105, they got the vietnam era camo along with the wear and tear until replaced by the f4 . there was even a squadron or two of f102's .
